Colored Christmas Tree Ideas
And to add to the fun, I’m excited to join the cottage tour hosted by 11 Magnolia Lane and Evolution of Style today. A different room stands out every day this week. Today is officially supposed to be “Living Rooms” but my tree is the only tree made for it, so this is what you get today- ha! If you came here after traveling with Sarah at Thrifty Decor Chick, welcome! I’ve admired Sarah’s style and DIY skills for years and look forward to diving into her journey today (and we had a lot of fun sharing our Favorite Things Gift Guide last week!).

For the past few years, I’ve used a similar color scheme on my tree, but it’s always another “eye-catching!” Two years ago I hung hot pink pagoda lights on my tree, last year I made pink and red paper flowers, and this year I did something I’ve wanted to do for years since this project… tissue paper honey balls!
I’ve used folding paper fans as Christmas decorations many times in the past, but this year I had a lot of fun with these gingerbread balls. I already had a few but gathered more to use on my tree and extra to keep the theme on my Christmas fireplace and entry table (I’ll share these next week!)
Red And White Christmas Tree Decor
Big Green- last season Ikea or similar here || Big Hot Pink || Great Mint Green – last season Target or similar here || Assist. Red, Green and White || red || Assist. Blue || Assist. Pink || Assist. many colors
I’ve done the big bow/roll/small star top combination for the past few years, but this year I wanted something different. I have some large white and gold 3D paper stars in my stash (from Ikea and Target over the years) and I thought one of them might be right. I tried white for size and loved it, but the white was totally eye-catching and unnoticeable from the other side of the room.
So I fixed it with a few thin coats of spray paint and now it’s literally the “star” of the show!!

Hot Pink Spray Paint || Star- Ikea (seasonal)|| Hot Pink Gingham Ribbon || Red satin ribbon here or here || White Pom Pom Picks- In stores at home last season, these are very similar or this or these are also good options!
The rest of the tree is filled with my other favorite ornaments and random special family ornaments. Although I plan to make a small tree on our master this year, it’s really our only family tree and I’m piling on my favorite things, the memories!
Thank you so much for today’s tour! I look forward to finishing the rest of the hall and sharing it with you next week. If you haven’t visited other homes on today’s tour, start over with Amanda from Sincerely Marie Designs and be sure to check out all these other festive, gorgeous tours this week!

There are all kinds of ornaments that I have been collecting for almost 50 years. Each one has a special meaning to me and a story about why I added it to my jewelry collection. In a way, the tree tells our family history.
This is the Santa tree in the family room. It just has the Santa Claus ornament that has been collected for more than 50 years.
Christmas Tree Decoration Ideas That Aren’t Boring
This is the newest tree added this year, Elves and Reindeer, as I’m out of place in the family tree. The lower part also has some tin village decorations.
I have a weakness for this gingerbread and candy tree in our drawing room. It is a fun tree to decorate.
These are the snowmen and the snowflake tree in the master bedroom. We grew up in a place with occasional snow in the winter and there is a lot of snow in our cottage right now.
Ways Only Southerners Decorate Their Christmas Trees
This is the reading tree at my workplace. All decorations are about libraries and reading. Throughout my career as a librarian, it was always open in my office every holiday.
Whatever your interests, these are usually decorations that tell that story. A quick google search will help you find them.
My son made a video showing all our trees and other Christmas decorations. Turn it up and you can see it here: Christmas Jinkies, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=unVL148fIfMRee Drummond is a big fan of whimsical and rustic Christmas decorations. This includes the trees in his store, The Mercantile, which are adorned each year with warm flashing lights, homemade blown glass, and unique decorations like football helmets and cowboy boots. “I love them because none of them are fancy—no gold lamé here,” Ree says of the trees.

Some of the festive decor at The Merc is dreamy. But there’s something particularly fun about these Christmas tree decorations. If you haven’t bought your tree yet, you can start by freshening up different types of real Christmas trees or by finding the best artificial Christmas trees to keep each year. From there, the rest is up to you! You can keep it simple with minimalist decorations, become classic with a touch of knitting, or complete everything with a different color scheme.
If you’re looking for ideas or want to change up your Christmas decorations this year, this list of holiday decorating ideas will definitely come in handy. Pompom garlands, western motifs, historical ornaments, and some Merc-inspired designs await – and we’ve even added a few kid-friendly designs. Best of all, these ideas are completely original and unexpected. Pink Christmas decorations and rustic Christmas decorations for the win! (Now your only challenge will be to find a ceramic Christmas village set that’s gorgeous enough to fit everything.)
Add a touch of Americana with the classic combination of blue and red. With a little shimmer of silver and gold, this tree has a classic appeal, yet looks very modern.

Mercantile always seems to know the right touches to add for the holidays. This gorgeous tree is adorned with flowing wicker ribbons and matching wicker trim for the perfect amount of rustic charm.
Isn’t it amazing what a simple paper ornament can add to a tree? Making gorgeous giant flowers is a great idea, especially if you have a sprawling tree that needs padding.
Indulging yourself in candy is one of the best things about Christmas, and this candy-coated tree celebrates it in a big way. Lollipops, cupcakes, and candy-colored decorations keep this season happy and bright.
Garden Elements 7.5′ Penn Spruce Christmas Tree 1200 Multi Colored Lights
If you can’t stand to say goodbye to fall out of the blue, keep going all season with this fun pumpkin-themed tree. You can install it as soon as you feel the first coolness of autumn!
Nothing says “Merry Christmas”… well, a sparkly banner that reads “Merry Christmas”! The oversized stripe top here is the perfect finishing touch.
Timeless and refreshing at the same time, this tree is adorned with nothing but twinkling lights and vibrant red berry branches.
Green And Gold Christmas Decor
Is out of fashion. Mix neutral metallics like gold, silver, and bronze to give your tree a little extra sparkle.
You will have a “blue, blue Christmas” with this beautiful tree around! Peacock blue ribbon adorning the tree
Contrary to popular belief, a tree doesn’t have to be larger than real life to make a big visual impact. This mini version steals the show with colorful Christmas decorations, gold stars and sweets
